6 ways to use Inspiration in the Workplace

Assistive technology can be hugely beneficial in the modern workplace, especially for those with neuro diversities or cognitive challenges, and it can be the difference between people thriving or failing in business.

Visual thinking and mind mapping software is one such assistive technology that this applies to. Mind mapping can provide freedom of thought, visual cues, and ultimately a better understanding of topics.

It can turn a linear document into smaller chunks of information that are easier to review and grasp.

So, we’ve compiled a list of six all-important uses of Inspiration within the workplace:

  • You can use visual thinking techniques to help break down large reports or weighty documents and make sense of complex information. Large chunks of information can be hard to disseminate when you’re not a linear thinker, but diagrams and mind maps can help with this. You can break them down into headings with different branches and colour-code them. You can also use the free Inspiration Maps Generator tool to convert documents from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into an Inspiration diagram, as well as output from generative AI chatbots. • Making lists using Inspiration can help you keep track of your workload, targets, and to-do lists. Use our Outline View to build your list with topics and subtopics headings where appropriate. The Checklist feature is especially useful for building lists. You can even transfer this list to a diagram/map view should this be helpful later on. Planning that project or campaign just got easier!
  • Organising events requires juggling a lot of moving pieces, so using Inspiration to get everything down in one place can be beneficial to ensure nothing is forgotten. Simply start with a mind map and brainstorm all the different aspects of that particular event using colour-coded branches and breaking components down into associated elements. Quickly you will be able to see the event unfold on the screen in front of you, and due to the flexible style of this technique, you can add details as they come to you freely.
  • Structuring emails can be a tricky task; staring at a blank screen and working out how to get started can be hard. But create a basic mind map of all the things you need to include in your email and start to work out an order and hierarchy of importance as you build the map. You can then quickly transfer it into Outline view to get the structure ready to copy and paste into your email.
  • Planning a presentation couldn’t be simpler with Inspiration! You can take your mind map straight to a presentation slideshow with a couple of clicks of a button using the Presentation tool. Create a diagram of everything you want to include in your presentation, using sub-topics and notes where needed, and Inspiration will do the rest for you. You can use Presentation Manager to rearrange and design your presentation, including adding ‘snapshots’: visuals from your diagram to enhance your presentation and act as visual prompts to you, so you can feel more supported and confident while presenting. • Use Inspiration’s in-built Business Plan template to help you draw up your business plan. Mind mapping is great for allowing creativity to flourish and thoughts to come freely and this would be a huge advantage when putting together your business plan. And with our large bank of templates you don’t have to be stuck getting started! We’ve even categorised them so you can choose a ‘Work’ related template easily and quickly.
